A Comparison of the Effects of Stress Concentrations in Laser-Cut PMMA Under Static and Centripetal Loading

A number of studies have looked how resultant stress concentrations in designs can a detrimental effect on finished parts. Recently student projects at Solent University experienced issues with uncertainty from laser cutting polymeric materials. This study looks conventional tensile testing to evaluate PMMA (acrylic) subjected testing, varying the presence fillet radii section changes, and compare findings finite element analysis (FEA) models. In addition, parts are tested under centripetal loading effects when component is force angular acceleration, form horizontal fan blade. The will avoid impulse specimens but allow comparisons be drawn between physical (with limited controlled variables) using motor hub FEA results. used teaching undergraduates also help future projects.
